GAZA CITY (Ma’an) – Israeli forces have detained 59 Palestinians last week, according to the Palestinian Center for Defending Detainees.
In a statement Saturday, the group explained that amongst the detainees was one woman, Wafaa Shamasnah, and one parliamentarian, Ahmad Mubarak.
The majority of detainees last week were from Hebron district, as many as 15. Ten were detained in the Ramallah and al-Bireh district, seven from Jenin and the rest from other West Bank districts.
The statement added that Israeli forces released 18 detainees last year including speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council Aziz Dweik.
One detainee, Muhammad Muhra from the Gaza Strip was sentenced to 35 years by an Israeli military court.
